The Piano
This piano is very dear to my heart as it belonged to my father, who was a psychiatrist, neurologist, an exceptional bridge player, a talented piano player, and most of all a beautiful human and wonderful dad. I grew up in France and moved to the States over 20 years ago, making the Central Coast my second home. I had two babies and my mom came to visit me after each one of them. The second one, my daughter, was a very complicated baby so she decided to stay much longer than anticipated and simply told my dad “My daughter and granddaughter need me, I’m not coming back yet!” My parents had never been apart for more than a few days their entire life, so it was a big deal. After a week or so, my dad called and said he had finally cooked for himself- which was quite the miracle but then he had no choice lol- and also had done “a little folly”: he was missing my mom so had just bought himself a gorgeous brand-new piano! He loved playing on that piano up until the end, and we enjoyed many moments as a family around him playing. After his passing last December, I brought my dad’s piano all the way from France, along with all his music and piano books, and it fills my heart with joy to know that this very special and beautiful piano, my dad’s legacy, will continue to be enjoyed by many at my studio for years to come.)
